Today is July 1st, which means today is also the day that California's new Cell Phone Laws go into effect.As of today, it is illegal to use a handheld wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle. Motorists who are 18 and older may use a "hands-free device"--a Bluetooth or other earpiece--but those motorists who are younger than 18 may not use a handheld phone or a hands-free device at all.
